Meet Our Sisters
Caitlin Deubell, Panhellenic President.
"I'm a sorority woman and a dedicated volunteer.
Outside of my sorority, I am the president of St. Jude Up til Dawn, an organization dedicated to raising money for St. Jude! It's a LOT of fun for me to work with other students who are just as passionate about the cause as I am! I also volunteer for Gators Give Back which is a rummage sale that happens at the end of every school year to raise money for Project Chacocente! Being in a sorority is actually the reason I am a part of both of these outside clubs, because some of my sisters were already involved with them and encouraged me to join! Since I live on campus and I hate being bored, getting involved has helped me stay focused on my goals!
My long term goal is to attend medical school and become an OB-GYN so I have to make sure to do well in all my classes. Older sisters in my sorority are always more than willing to help me with classes and concepts I struggle with and I know that with their help, I can really shoot for the stars!
I wasn't planning on joining a sorority when I first got to Allegheny, but looking back on it- I'm so happy I did because of all the opportunities it has granted me!"

Kira Yerofeev, Alpha Delta Pi.
"I'm a sorority woman and I'm a feminist.
Before joining a sorority at Allegheny, I believed in all the stereotypes associated with them and I believed that, as a whole, sororities promoted un-feminist ideas. But after making a spontaneous decision to go through recruitment, I have realized that all of the women I've met through Greek life are strong, funny, intelligent, and unique. And on top of the amazing women I’ve met through, I’ve also realized that the sorority system is one that fosters female empowerment and support. My sorority is a place I feel at home and accepted.
Besides being in a sorority, I am an Environmental Science major, a Spanish minor, and I love traveling and learning about new cultures. In the future I hope to travel the world and save it at the same time!
I’m happy to know that now and in the future I’ll have sisters who will support and empower me wherever I go and in whatever I do!"
Grace O'Malley, Alpha Chi Omega.
"I'm a sorority woman and a scientist.
Since I was in middle school, I knew I wanted to be a marine or aquatic biologist. I've always been super studious and would even label myself as a nerd. I've worked with a professor from my hometown for three years now assisting with several research projects, and one of them is in the process of being published! Scientific research is my passion!
Upon arriving at Allegheny, I was against joining a sorority for several reasons, two being that I thought all sorority girls were rude and snobby just like the movies, and that I wouldn't fit in anywhere. However, I was proven wrong! My sisters accept and love me for who I am, and push me everyday to become the best that I can be. Every member of my sorority supports me and my dream of becoming a National Geographic scientist. Through my sorority, I have not only found life-long friends, but a home."

Dakota Manson, Delta Delta Delta.
"I am a sorority woman and one day I plan on running for Congress.
As cliche as it may sound, joining a sorority has been one of the best decisions I could have made for myself. I was introduced to the most genuine and empowering women who have pushed me farther every single day and have taught me what it means to be humble. I have discovered a network of people who are all unique in their own way, but when brought together, create this extraordinary group that lifts people up instead of putting them down. No matter where I am in the world, whether it’s Jordan, Ireland, or Spain, I’m proud to be associated with these women.
Thanks to my sorority, my leadership skills have evolved and so has my confidence. My voice matters and I have carried that with me everywhere I go.These are major assets as I discover what I want to do with the rest of my life and the career field I want to go in. I am proud to fundraise for St. Jude and make even the smallest impact I can in a child’s life. I’m proud to speak out about women’s rights. I’m proud to carry myself as a Tri Delta. One day I hope to put my passions and intelligence to use and run for office.
I am an International Studies with a focus on the Middle East and English double major. I am an avid traveler, an adventurer, a longboarder, somebody who loves punny jokes, and food. I am a sorority woman and I plan on making a difference."

Zoe Husnick, Kappa Kappa Gamma.
" I am a sorority woman and I am a dancer."
"When I was a freshman the first organization I joined was Orchesis Dance Company and some of the most amazing dancers I met were Greek women. I admired the way they balanced themselves between their classes and their extracurriculars, and I aspired to be as involved in the Allegheny community as they were. They encouraged me to go through recruitment and supported me while I found the sorority that fit me the best.
As an active member of the Greek community I have found several ways within my own sorority to continue my involvement with dance. I have taken on the role of choreographing several different dances for my sorority and not only do I get to spend time doing something I love, but I get to bond with my sisters in the process. I really enjoy having the opportunity to give back to my sorority in a way that means so much to me.
I am now a senior at Allegheny and some of my most favorite memories are when I am surrounded by the women in Kappa. They have brought me so much laughter and joy over the past 4 years, and I want nothing more than for other girls to have the same experience."
Meg Lewis, Delta Delta Delta.
"I am a sorority woman and a cheerleader.
Before coming to Allegheny, I wasn't even considering the thought of joining a sorority. At the start of freshman year, I moved in a few days early with the cheerleading team, where the first friends I met on campus were my teammates. After getting to know them those first few days on campus, I found out that quite a few of them on our small team were in sororities. After the first semester, I built close bonds with everyone on my team, but even closer bonds with the girls in Greek Life. I was drawn to the fact that the sorority girls that were also my teammates were so enriched with their sisters, philanthropy, and leadership. I cheered for years prior to my freshman year, and never had experiences like these with my teammates, so I knew I wanted to go Greek. Being a cheerleader with girls in Greek Life helped me realize that being in a sorority is not like what you see in movies. You build friendships that will last a lifetime with your sisters, and make memories that you'll never forget.
It was such an amazing opportunity to get to cheer with the girls that I now call my sisters, and I know that they played a large role in my decision to go Greek because of the experiences I had with them. Outside of cheerleading and Greek life, I'm a Neuroscience major and French minor. I'm planning on becoming a member of the Orchesis Dance Company starting during the Fall 2017 semester. After graduating from Allegheny, I hope to move on to graduate or medical school.
Finding the right sorority is like finding something you've been missing for a long time, but better. I feel that being apart of Tri-Delta has helped me to fill in what I've been missing. That's how I knew I found my home. I'm so thankful for my teammates for helping me to decide that being in a sorority was definitely the right fit for me, because it was one of the best decisions I have ever made."

Carolyn Kirby, Alpha Chi Omega.
"I am a sorority woman and a leader.
Before joining a sorority at Allegheny College, I was unaware of all of the hard work and dedication sister put into them. Sisters in every chapter are expected to contribute to events and chapter functions. Often, sisters are given the opportunity to take on leaderships roles in the chapter. In my first semester with my chapter, I was able to take on a leadership role. If you are someone who wants to learn to become a stronger leader, Greek Life is something you should consider. With so many positions within a chapter, you are bound to find something that fits you.
Being in my sorority has given me countless opportunities to grow as a person and I cannot wait to see what the next years bring. I love being surrounded by hardworking and strong women. They are my biggest supporters and always encourage me to take on more challenges."

Brook Kazmer, Kappa Kappa Gamma.
"I am a sorority woman and I love the outdoors”
"I have always looked at sororities as being superficial and I never envisioned myself joining Greek life. I was extremely hesitant about going through recruitment, but when I saw the community and bond within Greek life, I knew I wanted to be apart of it. Joining Kappa has given me a second family along with an amazing support group. Every girl in Kappa is very unique, bringing their own individual qualities to the chapter.
Because I love to hike and spend my time in nature, there’s always someone in Kappa ready for an adventure. In Kappa, upon joining each new member is given a ‘Big Heart’, or someone who is supposed to help bring you into the sisterhood; a few weeks later, I got my big, who as most people know serves as a sort of ‘big sister’ or mentor to you. It just so happened that my ‘Big Heart’ and my ‘Big’ were best friends and roommates, and the two of them immediately took me in and introduced me to the other sisters, offered to help me in school, and even agreed to come hiking with me.
Kappa isn’t a place where I found people just like me, where everyone had the same interests and backgrounds. Instead, people are genuinely interested in eachother and curious about the interests and passions of their sisters. From attending events held by other organizations our sisters are involved in, to attending choir or dance performances with your sisters, and learning all about your sister’s newfound interest in the art of making pendulums, this sisterhood has given me a support system, and some of my closest friends."

Marley Parish, Kappa Alpha Theta.
"I am a sorority woman and a journalist.
I have always had a passion for writing and a burning desire to ask questions, so naturally, journalism is the perfect fit for me.
I began writing for The Campus my first semester at Allegheny, and after I joined staff, I had the chance to meet incredible women who are still my biggest inspirations and role models today. Not only were they hard-working, dedicated journalists, but they were also involved in Greek life, and it is because of them I decided to go through recruitment.
By joining Kappa Alpha Theta, I have been introduced to a group of leading women who believe in and inspire me each and every day. My sisters accept me for who I am and are a constant support system. Because of them, I have become a more confident and better person. Because of them, I applied to be Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper, and I cannot thank them enough for their never-ending love and encouragement.
Greek life has shaped my life forever, and I am thankful for the opportunities it has provided me."
Megan Kelley, Kappa Alpha Theta.
"I am a sorority woman and I am a singer.
I am a sorority woman because I surround myself with people who push me to be a better version of myself. When I first came to Allegheny, I had no desire to be a part of the Greek community. I had little to no experience with Greek life besides what I saw in movies and no one in my family had been involved while they were in college, so I just wrote it off as something that wasn't for me.
I joined numerous clubs and organizations my freshman year, but it was in choir that I started truly making friends. The older choir members were incredibly welcoming, kind, and fun to be around. They really helped me to feel more at home both in the choir and at Allegheny. I began noticing that the people I looked up to the most all had something in common: they all wore Greek letters.
I started to reevaluate my decision and eventually decided to go through recruitment. I trusted the women I met in choir, and I knew that if this is something they cherished, that it was something I wanted to experience. I eventually found my home in Kappa Alpha Theta, and it has been one of the best gifts Allegheny has given me. These incredible women inspire me to be the best version of myself and give me the confidence to achieve my goals. They have been there for me through every high and every low, through every laugh and every tear. They have been my rock for the past four years, and I am so proud to call myself a sorority woman."
